Congratulations to Anna Malkova, the Roy J. Carver Professor of Biology, for being elected as a Fellow to the American Academy of Microbiology (Academy). The Academy, the honorific leadership group within the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), recognizes excellence, originality, service, and leadership in the microbial sciences. Dr. Malkova was one of 65 new fellows elected to the Class of 2023.

There are over 2,600 Fellows in the Academy representing all subspecialties of the microbial sciences and involved in basic and applied research, teaching, public health, industry, and government service. The mission of the Academy is to recognize scientists for outstanding contributions to microbiology and provide microbiological expertise in the service of science and the public.

The ASM is one of the largest professional societies dedicated to the life sciences in the world and is composed of 30,000 scientists and health practitioners.
