Biology Alumna is New PR Coordinator for SE Iowa STEM Region
The SE Iowa STEM Region welcomes Chelle Lehman as the new Public Relations Coordinator. Chelle (pronounced Shelly) was most recently at the University of Iowa College of Engineering as a constituent relations specialist where she served as the Director of K-12 School Engagement and the Director of Outreach and Recruitment for Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE).
Chelle is an Iowa certified K-12 teacher with endorsements in elementary and secondary sciences. She is passionate about providing early exposure to STEM education and career opportunities for Iowa students. This passion is a direct result of her own lack of exposure to STEM careers as a young girl in a rural school district.
Chelle earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and education from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in biology from the University of Nebraska Kearney. Chelle serves on the board of the Iowa Women's Foundation. She is also a Yoga in the Schools teacher for Challenge to Change. She enjoys biking, yoga, stained glass, photography, traveling with her husband, and doting on her two grandchildren. You can reach out to Chelle at firstname.lastname@example.org or 319-335-5702.
