Congratulations to Dan Summers, Assistant Professor of Biology, on receiving a 5-year grant from the National Institutes of Health, “Identifying mechanisms that regulate local axon vulnerability to pathological degeneration.” Neurodegeneration is a prolific challenge to human health. With this grant, the Summers Lab will identify new factors that influence the susceptibility of our nervous system to degeneration. The Summers Lab hopes to develop new therapeutic approaches to protect the nervous system and improve quality of life.
