Undergraduate Neuroscience Student Receives First-Generation Student Achievement Award

Madeline Carlson, a senior majoring in Neuroscience, received the 2023 First-Generation Student Achievement Award. This award is given to one undergraduate first-generation student and one graduate or professional first-generation student who have made great achievements during their time on campus, committed to achieving academically, and paved the way for other first-generation students to succeed at Iowa. "Originally from Colorado, Madeline came to Iowa for college to be close to extended family. She is a first-generation college student who is passionate about helping other first-generation students feel comfortable and ready to take on college and the workforce after graduation."
