Biomedical Sciences undergraduate student, Erin Smith, has received a Summer Research Fellowship from the Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates for the Summer 2020.

This fellowship allows current University of Iowa undergraduates in any discipline to work with UI faculty or professional & scientific staff mentors on a specific project during the summer. Smith will also be a Fellow in the Latham Science Engagement Fellowship Program for the 2020-21 academic year.

Students in the program will complete two courses, design and implement an individual and group outreach project to engage the community in thinking about science, and participate in a year-end event that will highlight their achievements. Smith is an undergraduate researcher in the lab of Dr. Bin He in the Department of Biology.
