The Department of Biology at the University of Iowa invites applications for an instructional track faculty position (non-tenure track), beginning August 20, 2025. The initial appointment is for three years, subject to annual review. This instructional track faculty position is renewable and includes opportunities for promotion with longer appointment intervals.
This position will primarily contribute to administration and instruction in the neurobiology courses, including Neurobiology I (BIOL:3253) and Neurobiology II (BIOL:3254) and their associated graduate courses (BIOL:5658 and 5659), and other neuroscience courses including investigative lab courses (examples: How the Brain Works, BIOL1251; Introduction to Neurobiology, BIOL:2753; Neurogenetics Laboratory, BIOL:3655). This position may also contribute the administration and instruction of courses in one or more other areas (genetics, cell biology, developmental biology, or physiology), based on candidate expertise.
The successful applicant will have: 1) a PhD or equivalent in biology, neurobiology, or a related field in hand by the start date; 2) experience teaching biology lecture and/or laboratory courses; 3) expertise in neurobiology and/or the subject areas of genetics, cell biology, developmental biology, or physiology; and 4) excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
