Julia Hetherton started as a Research Assistant in Professor Steven Green’s Lab in September 2022.

Julia was a pre-med student at the University of Iowa, achieving her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry with a Chemistry minor. Besides being a Research Assistant in the Department of Biology, she’s also a Certified Nursing Assistant in the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in the pediatric oncology unit, which she absolutely loves!

Julia is originally from Cedar Falls, Iowa, having come to Iowa City to enroll in college as a Hawkeye. Coming from a large family, she has seven sisters and two brothers. Julia has an eye for vintage décor: “I spend a lot of my free time going to thrift and antique stores.” She even recently bought a sewing machine to “upcycle” clothes.
