Sanger sequencing

Full-service Sanger sequencing

The CCG staff is currently performing full-service Sanger sequencing on Tuesdays and Thursdays:

• Submit templates by 8 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for runs that day. Data will be available for download the following day unless otherwise notified.
• The cost of each sample will be $6.75 effective March 1, 2021.
• Bring templates to 232 BB (-20 freezer) in a 0.5 ml tube.

Bioanalyzer analysis

The CCG staff will perform bioanalyzer analysis on RNA, DNA, and protein samples upon request. Results will be emailed to you later in the day after the run. 

• Please send an email to ccg@uiowa.edu to schedule a Bioanalyzer run with the CCG staff, giving the staff a minimum of 24 hours notice. In your email, indicate the type of run/kit you would like done.
  • Please note: Some kits are not kept in stock and will need to be ordered. The request form indicates which kits are currently available.
• After scheduling with staff, submit sample submission form via email to CCG.
• Bring samples to 232 Biology Building (BB) (-20 freezer, middle shelf) in a 0.5ml tube (3ul minimum) by 8 a.m. on the day of your run.

FACS-Melody cell sorting  

The CCG staff will perform cell sorting on Monday afternoon, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Results will be emailed to you after the completion of the sort.

• Please email the CCG at ccg@uiowa.edu to schedule a time to run your samples. The staff requests at least one week advance notice of a planned sort. 
• After scheduling time with staff, please submit sample submission form via email.
• Please bring your sort prepped samples (see sort requirements link) to 236 Biology Building (BB) at your scheduled sort time. Any samples that are not prepped according to guidelines listed will not be run, and you will still be billed for time scheduled on the machine. 
• Sorting yeast or bacteria and any requested aseptic sorts will require an aseptic cleaning procedure which will be included in the billing of your sort time.
• All cancellations or rescheduling of booked runs must be done 24 hours in advance by emailing the CCG in order to not be charged for the scheduled sort time. Any cancellations or rescheduling made by CCG staff will not be charged to the user.
