Biology Honors Scholarships & Awards

The Arthur J. and Flora D. Levin Research Scholarship in Biology, the Avis Cone Undergraduate Research Fellowship, and the Clifford W. Hesseltine Awards in Biology are only available to Biology Honors students.

Arthur J. Flora D. Levin Research Scholarship in Biology
The applicant must be a Biology major undertaking laboratory research in the Department of Biology and have a strong academic record (UI GPA of at least 3.5). The student must intend to pursue a Biology Honors research within 6 months of receiving the award.    

Avis Cone Undergraduate Research Fellowship
The applicant must be a Biology Honors student undertaking laboratory research in the Department of Biology. Two awards are available. One award is for a student working in a laboratory using organisms that have chlorophyll-based metabolic processes. The other award is available to a student working in a laboratory that studies aspects of zoology (the structure, embryology, evolution, classification, habits, and distribution of animals - both living and extinct), or research within the field of conservation biology.            

Clifford W. Hesseltine Scholarship in Biology
The applicant must be a Biology Honors student of sophomore or junior standing undertaking laboratory research in the Department of Biology and have a strong academic record (GPA of at least 3.5). Two awards are available.
