On April 10, the University of Iowa Department of Biology brought hands-on science to the community at Penn Elementary’s annual Science Night. Stephanie Haase (Instructional Services Specialist), Segun Oladapo (iBio Master’s student, Logsdon Lab), and Apisinee Thao (Neuroscience undergraduate) represented the department, sparking curiosity and excitement in young learners.

Students and families had the chance to explore biology up close—interacting with live hissing cockroaches, sea urchins, and more. The event provided an engaging way for kids to learn about animals, ask questions, and connect with real scientists. It was a fun and educational night!
