Kendra Musmaker and Jerzy Twarowski, both PhD students in the Integrated Biology Graduate Program and members of Anna Malkova's lab, successfully defended their dissertations. Kendra's defense date was June 18 and the title of her dissertation was "Break-induced Replication: Two Roles in Genome Instability." Jerzy defended on June 19 with his dissertation entitled, "Break-Induced Replication as a DNA Double-Strand Break Repair Pathway: Mutagenic Consequences and Mechanistic Insights." Congratulations Kendra and Jerzy!

Anna Malkova, former Roy J. Carver Professor of Biology at the University of Iowa, is currently a Professor of Biochemistry and Structural Biology at UT San Antonio.
