Abigail (Abby) Ryon, a Spring 2025 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biology (Integrative Biology track), was a member of Ana Llopart's lab in the Department of Biology. Abby graduated with Distinction and Honors in Biology and was a member of the Llopart Lab since 2021 where she studied the genetic basis of hybrid female sterility in fruit flies. She was a 2023-2024 recipient of the Linda and Rick Maxson Undergraduate Research Award, which supports undergraduate research in individual faculty labs in the Department of Biology. Abby is currently working full-time at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a Patient Care Technician in the Heart and Vascular Center where she has worked since 2024. During her time as a student at Iowa, Abby also competed on the Women's Cross Country and Women's Track & Field teams. Originally from Mount Pleasant, Iowa, her future plans include medical school while upholding her passion for running.
