Daniel Summers, PhD, Assistant Professor of Biology, received the William-Cannon Fellowship for Spring 2025.

Integrated Biology Graduate Students, Guerin Brown, Jerzy Twarowski, and Christian Weinrich, received Fellowships for the Spring 2025 semester.

Jie Li a PhD student in the Cell and Developmental Biology Program and a member of the Tootle Lab, received a Post-Comprehensive Research Fellowship for the Spring 2025 semester.

University of Iowa researchers have found and confirmed a gene that allows female fruit flies to get on the same frequency as courting males. Mosquitoes have the same gene and a similar courtship ritual, meaning that canceling the gene could in theory control mosquito population growth.
